My name is Denise A. Love, and I am your new administrator at Traice Elementary. I am a native of Muskogee, Oklahoma, graduated from Muskogee High School (Rougher), earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Langston University and received my Master’s Degree in Administration, Supervision and Curriculum from the University of Oklahoma. During my years in education, I have taught elementary and middle school, been a Mentor Teacher, an Instructional Coach, Building Test Coordinator, a Behavior Coach, and a Principal. I have spent twenty-nine years with Tulsa Public Schools, a year with Dallas Independent School District in Dallas, TX, and several years as the Director of the 21st Century Community Learning Center with Tulsa Community College where I supervised over fifty employees in conjunction with nine schools by overseeing their after school and adult educational programs. .
As a result of my commitment to my professional career as an educator, I was Teacher of the Year for 2016-2017 school year at Academy Central Elementary School. I have also received numerous certificates for my dedication to public education over the years as well. My development and implementation of programs lead to the improvement of teaching as well as learning which ensures that all students show proficient growth/improvement in their academic performance. I have spent my career working with a diverse group of students and parents whose demographic characteristics were identified as low social economic, scored below average on state standardized test, have a low level of parental involvement, have severe behavior problems, and high suspensions and absenteeism rates.
My philosophy is teaching is a lifelong learning process about new philosophies and new strategies. Learning from parents, the community, colleagues, and especially from the children is how and where I seek my wealth of knowledge. Children have taught me to open my mind to new ideas, my heart to the joys and innocence of learning, as well as to the diversity of ideas in the world. Because of this, I will never forget how to smile at the new, cherish the old, and laugh with a freeness only children have. Finally, I will continue to strive to help children become college bound and career ready. I look forward to a great and exciting school year in my role as administrator this school year.
